How to choose a battery grass trimmer

Start by deciding which type of tool you need, then check its battery platform and the contents of the pack. The collection includes grass trimmers, brush cutters and sets containing several tools. Cutting widths for individually sold models range from 25 cm to 40 cm, depending on the product. You can then narrow down your choice by comparing the cutting system, handle design and available adjustments. These criteria make it easier to compare configurations with batteries you already own.

Choose the right battery platform

Greenworks grass trimmers in this collection are available on the 24V, 40V, 60V and POWERALL 48V (24V x 2) platforms. If you already own a Greenworks battery, choose a tool from the same platform. The 24V, 40V and 60V batteries are not interchangeable.

The POWERALL 48V (24V x 2) system operates with two Greenworks 24V batteries used simultaneously, not with a 48V battery. For a tool-only model, you therefore need two compatible 24V batteries. Corresponding POWERALL 48V (24V x 2) kits may include two batteries, but their capacity and the supplied charger vary by product reference.

Compare cutting width and cutting system

Cutting width provides an initial point of comparison. Individually sold grass trimmers are available in 25 cm, 30 cm, 33 cm, 38 cm or 40 cm versions, while the brush cutters in the collection are available in 38 cm or 40 cm versions. Consider this measurement together with the tool’s cutting system.

Some models use a blade, others use nylon line, and several offer a 2-in-1 system combining a blade and line. Line feed may be automatic or use a Bump Feed system, which releases line when the head is lightly tapped on the ground. Depending on the product reference, the equipment may also include a guide wheel, pivoting head, telescopic shaft, 90° rotation or variable speed.

Grass trimmer or brush cutter?

A grass trimmer cuts grass along edges and in areas that are difficult for a lawn mower to reach. Some models add an edging function or guide wheel to help guide the cut. Brush cutters are also offered for cutting coarser plants, including bushes and undergrowth.

Some tools combine both functions: their line head can be replaced with a brush cutter blade. Others retain a specialised configuration. To compare them, examine the presence of a blade, the type of line feed, the auxiliary handle or bike handle, and whether a harness is present.

Tool-only, battery kit or combination set?

A “Tool-only” version is suitable if you already own batteries compatible with the tool’s platform. Other product references may include a 2 Ah or 4 Ah battery, multiple batteries and, depending on the pack, one or more chargers. Some USB-C versions also include a 30 W charger and cable. Check the contents of each product reference before ordering.

Combination sets pair the grass trimmer or brush cutter with a lawn mower, hedge trimmer or blower. They differ in the tools included, the number and capacity of the batteries, and the chargers supplied. Compare the complete pack with your existing equipment and check platform compatibility.
